Posted by Naeem hussain on 3:38 AM
Cast: Irrfan Khan, Chitrangda Singh, Arunoday Singh, Aditi Rao, Saurabh Shukla, Vipin Sharma, Yashpal Sharma, Sushant Singh, Prashant Narayanan
Music: Nishat Khan
Lyrics: Swanand Kirkire
Dialogues: Manu Rishi & Sudhir Mishra
Story, Screenplay, Direction: Sudhir Mishra
Yeh Saali Zindagi Its a quirky love story in the guise of a thriller. Its an obtuse take on how far they both the heroes go to get the women they love and how sometimes one screw-up can set everything right!
Arun (Irrfan Khan) has to save Priti (Chitrangda Singh) the woman he loves, but for that he first has to save the man Priti loves- Shyam, the future son in law of a powerful Minister.
Meanwhile, time is running out for Kuldeep (Arunoday Singh), the young gangster who is on his last job as his wife is threatening to walk out on him completely, and he begins to suspect she is leaving him to go into the arms of another man.
The job has gone haywire for it is still unknown to Kuldeep that the Ministers daughters engagement with Shyam is off and now she doesn’t care whether Shyam lives or dies and more importantly neither does the Minister who Kuldeep hoped would pay the ransom!
Priti finds herself inextractably caught in this mess and Arun has to save her life. But for that he has to risk everything, and put his own life at stake, he wonders why he should do it at all, if she still loves another.
He’s torn, but love knows no reason. Meanwhile Shyam is trying to make deals in captivity, and his goodness only seems superficial and as Kuldeep tries desperately to save his situation, there are dons coming from Bangkok, who have their own plans.
The film rides a roller-coaster towards a shattering climax, where all the players have to fend for their lives and loves. Who gets the girl, and who gets the money, and who escapes by the skin of his teeth, is now anybody’s guess. But hold on, there are still jokers in the pack, and aces up some sleeves

Jolie-Depp starrer The Tourist flops at BO
Posted by Naeem hussain on 3:32 AM
Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp's most expected film The Tourist flopped at the box office. Hollywood's hottest on-screen couple failed to grab the top spot at the US box office where couple’s first ever film together was set to take less than $20m on its opening weekend, according to media reports. They were beaten into second place by The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The third film made out of C.S. Lewis fantasy series was expected to take just over $30m to claim the top spot.
Despite the pulling power of Jolie and Depp, the thriller set in Venice, Italy, failed to attract moviegoers having received many poor reviews. Movie experts said it took just over 6m dollars on Friday and $7m on Saturday.
Hollywood blogger Nikkie Finke said the The Tourist, which cost $100m to make, under-performed to the “point of desperation.” Movie experts predict it will be pulled from US theatres in a matter of weeks with Hollywood studio Sony hoping it performs better overseas.
The Tourist was supposed to set the box office alight with the pairing of Depp and Jolie.
They are the two biggest names in Hollywood and their previous films have all performed spectacularly at the box office. But the film received scathing reviews with one saying the film crawls at a snail's pace.
“Star power can cover up a multitude of shortcomings in a film. Turns out stupidity isn't one of them. Nor is a lack of chemistry when those stars are tossed into the same orbit,” another reviewer wrote.
“Throw in the feeling that they aren't really trying, but instead showed up for the mondo payday and the first-rate locations and you have... well, you have The Tourist,” the reviewer added.
There is news that Brad Pitt gets annoyed with partner Angelina Jolie for not clicking photos herself which means the actor is often left out of family snaps. The Tourist star said that Pitt, with whom she raises six children, likes to takes pictures of their family but hardly gets included in them himself, reported media.
"I actually never take pictures and I think it drives Brad a bit crazy because he's in no family photos - he takes them all, and so I need to start trying," said Jolie.
The 35-year-old actress admitted she doesn't worry about what people think of her because she is so caught up in raising her children - Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, five, Shiloh, four and twins Knox and Vivienne, two.
"My real life is like 90 per cent contained in my house with my kids that just think I'm weird. So I don't have that life of how you walk down the street and how people perceive you."

Review of the 'new' Michael Jackson album
Posted by Naeem hussain on 3:31 AM
Michael Jackson originally became famous during the vinyl era, an age that gave us Elvis, The Beatles and the Motown label on which The King Of Pop first made his name. But it was only when music embraced the new technology of the Eighties that he became a global superstar. It was then that he delivered the best-selling album of all time in Thriller, and used MTV to realise the potential of the pop video.
Now, 18 months after his death, technology is once more adding to Jackson’s legacy. This album was completed using modern studio techniques to enhance the raw material he left behind. As such, it is something of a mish-mash — with a few moments of magic.
The record features ten previously unreleased tracks dating back to 1982, the year of Thriller. There is a hard-rocking 2001 collaboration with Lenny Kravitz plus a handful of more recent tracks, including one, Best Of Joy, that Jackson had hoped to complete during last year’s planned residency in London.
Can Jacko ever rest in peace? An album of 'new' songs he didn't want released hits the shelves and his family battle over his millions. Two songs here may be familiar: a demo version of one, the soulful ballad (I Like) The Way You Love Me, cropped up six years ago on Jackson’s Ultimate Collection, while Behind The Mask was originally sung by Japanese electro-pop group Yellow Magic Orchestra before being made famous by Eric Clapton in 1987.
Despite fans, colleagues and family members questioning the authenticity of some of the vocals, R&B figurehead Teddy Riley, a Jackson associate since 1991 and producer of three tracks here, downplays such concerns.
He says: ‘I studied everything about him from day one. As the years went by, I witnessed his tones changing. My feeling on the authenticity of the vocals is that they were all done by Michael.’
My hunch is to agree with Riley, although that doesn’t mean the record consistently captures Jackson at his best. Many tracks were recorded with ‘guide’ vocals, where the singer is perfectly in tune without really pushing his voice.
A whiff of over-production also hangs over Michael. On Keep Your Head Up, Jackson’s singing is overshadowed by a choir, lush strings, handclaps and an over-wrought finale straight out of ballads week on The X Factor.
Breaking News is another offender. The funky, mid-tempo arrangement is catchy enough, but it is difficult to discern Jackson’s distinctive tone amid the barrage of backing vocals. When the singer does perform at full throttle, the results are spectacular. Monster, recorded in 2007, finds him hitting the dance floor with an impressive update on the lyrical theme of Thriller.
Squealing ‘He’s a monster, he’s an animal’, the singer actually sounds as if he is enjoying himself. 50 Cent’s rap was added at a later date, but still blends effectively into the mix.
The two songs from the early 1980s also offer snatches of Jackson on top form. Behind The Mask, with new lyrics, is fast and funky. Much Too Soon is beautifully sung. A sweet ballad with strings arranged by Beck’s father, David Campbell, its plaintive, stripped-back tone is reminiscent of Jackson’s early solo single Ben.
This album would have undoubtedly packed more punch had the singer been able to polish up the less engaged vocal performances here, while the fact that these songs span 28 years inevitably leads to a lack of continuity.
Rather than a studio album to rival Thriller, the King Of Pop’s trustees have come up with an intriguing but patchy compilation.

Watchout for six-month pregnant Vidya Balan
Posted by Naeem hussain on 3:28 AM
Vidya will be seen as a six-month pregnant woman throughout Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani
Vidya Balan will be seen in a totally different avatar in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani. The actress will be seen as a woman with a six-month baby belly. And it is not just in passing. The actress will be seen with a big bump throughout the film.
Shot in Kolkata and London the film will be out some time mid 2011. A source reveals, "Vidya's character is that of a pregnant woman whose husband travels from London to India for work. However, he goes missing and she comes to Kolkata in search of him."
Not without her
Sujoy, who just wrapped the Kolkata schedule, confirms, "It's the story of a woman who's six months pregnant and her journey. I had written the script keeping Vidya in mind. I wouldn't have made the film without her. For me she's a perfectionist who has beautifully brought the character alive."
He adds that she met the challenges of playing an expecting mom rather well, "She made it look so effortless. She never compromised on any aspect of filmmaking. Since cinema is a visual medium it was very important for her to look the part. There is lot of simplicity in her character and at the same time great turmoil within.
Also there were boundaries because a pregnant woman isn't Batman or Superman. She can't do much, there's only so much you can make her do. But the beauty lies in the vulnerability and subtle nuances that she's used to play the character."
